B’sarya for Arts is an art organization based in Alexandria, Egypt, founded in 2017. It operates within a context marked by limited infrastructure for contemporary artistic research, production, and long-term artistic development, particularly outside Cairo. B’sarya was established to respond to this gap by offering sustained support for artists and cultural practitioners working across visual arts, music, performance, sound, and new media.
The organization’s core mission is to support artistic creation as an ongoing process rather than a one-off outcome. Its main focus is on residencies, artistic research, and production-based programs that allow artists time, space, and resources to experiment and develop new work. This is primarily delivered through B’sarya AiR, the residency programme for both local and non-local artists. B’sarya operates year-round and provides artists with access to two fully equipped sound studios, six workroom studios for visual artists, residency accommodation, and an exhibition hall used for public presentations, exhibitions, and performances. Alongside residencies, the organization hosts workshops, talks, open studios, and educational activities that engage diverse local audiences. In 2025, B’sarya launched the first edition of its biennial contemporary art festival, which presents newly commissioned works created in Alexandria by local and international artists, further positioning the city as a site for artistic research and production.
B’sarya for Arts collaborates with the French Institute in Alexandria on co-produced residencies, artistic exchanges, and public programs supporting contemporary creation, including French Touch, La Fête de la Musique, and other joint artistic and educational projects bringing together French and Egyptian artists. Since 2025, B’Sarya collaborates with the French Institute through the Mawjaat program.
